Highcliffe St Mark Primary School
Religious Education Vision Statement
Religious Education
Through our teaching of R.E. at Highcliffe St Mark, we aim to nurture an attitude of respect and understanding for the many worldviews in an increasingly diverse world, as well as a knowledge of these religions and how they impact people’s lives. As a church school we spend a higher proportion of time looking at Christian beliefs and teachings whilst also learning about other worldviews, religious and non-religious, such as Judaism, Hinduism Sikhi Humanism and Islam.
We want to prepare our pupils for this world of diversity, to develop an understanding of their own sense of identity, self-worth and belonging, before looking beyond themselves. We encourage our children to question and reflect on how people are formed by their beliefs and how significant the knowledge of these beliefs is in us and yet still to live harmoniously alongside each other.
More information about RE at Highcliffe St Mark, including the right to withdraw, can be found within our RE Policy.
