At Highcliffe St Mark Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child attends regularly and punctually so they can fully benefit from the educational opportunities available to them. The school recognises its responsibility to promote good attendance for all pupils of compulsory school age and works in line with the Children Acts, Education Acts, and Department for Education guidance to do so. While parents and carers hold the legal duty to ensure their child attends school, the Headteacher, Governors and wider staff team work collaboratively with families and external agencies to encourage positive attendance habits.
Regular absence, including persistent absence defined as missing 10% or more of sessions, can significantly affect a child’s progress, creating gaps in learning that impact long‑term achievement. Our approach aims to ensure all pupils feel supported, safe and valued so they can make the most of every learning opportunity.
