At Highcliffe St Mark Primary School, reading and writing are at the heart of our curriculum. Through a systematic approach to phonics and exposure to rich, high-quality texts, we develop confident, fluent readers and writers who can express their ideas clearly and creatively across the curriculum, supported by strong home-school partnerships.

Our English curriculum is made up of three key areas: phonics, reading and writing. Through these, children develop early communication skills, build confidence with language, and learn to read and write with increasing fluency and enjoyment.
