“Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.”
Mark 16:15
St Mark is the patron saint of our school, and his life inspires us to live out our Christian values of courage, compassion and respect each day. We celebrate St Mark’s Feast Day on 25th April, giving thanks for his example of faith, service and perseverance.
St Mark lived at the time of Jesus and is known as an evangelist because he wrote one of the four Gospels. His Gospel reminds us of Jesus’ love for all people and encourages us to share kindness, hope and understanding with others.
As a young man, Mark travelled with early Christian leaders, including St Paul and St Barnabas, helping to spread Jesus’ message. Although he faced challenges and disagreements along the way, Mark showed courage and humility, learning from his experiences and continuing to serve God with faith and determination.
St Mark later became a leader of the Church in Alexandria, where he taught others about Jesus and helped build strong Christian communities. He remained faithful to God throughout his life and is remembered for his bravery and dedication.
At Highcliffe St Mark Primary School, we look to St Mark as a role model. His story encourages us to be brave in our faith, compassionate in our actions and respectful towards others, as we learn, grow and serve together as a school community.
