Mrs Hughes introduces next week's learning (06.07.20)

This looks like a great idea!  You can earn a Blue Peter Badge by completing and sending in various activities and some of them are similar to some of our own Summer Challenges.

Use this link to find out more.

This is what the website says:

"Over six weeks in June and July, we will be celebrating a different Blue Peter badge a week and asking you to show us how you are getting on by sending in your photos and videos. We’re calling it Blue Peter’s 6 Badges of Summer. Green, Sport, Music, Blue, Fan Club and Silver – 6 Blue Peter Badges you can earn right now!"

The Ickabog by J.K. Rowling

You can read JK Rowling's new book on this website before it is officially published in November 2020.

There is also a competition to design some of the illustrations to go in the book.  The closing date for the competition is July 17th.

There are some really fun games online.  Today in school we've been challenging ourselves with COUNTDOWN.  It is sooooooo challenging!!  The game is on a TV show.

You have to choose 9 letters and then make the longest word possible.

You have to choose 6 numbers, they can be big ones or small ones and then you have to use all 4 operations to try and make the target number.  This is a great game for stretching your brain and making links.

Audible are allowing free access to their online books!  There are several tabs to choose from.  The "Elementary" tab and "The Folk and Fairy Tales" tab are great.  The "Littlest Listeners" tab also has some great books, including Beatrix Potter and Winnie the Pooh.

Sharing Books

On the "Something Special For Our Children" page we have shared some terrible jokes and riddles and lots of books for you to watch and listen to.

There are some Growth Mindset picture books, some facts about the Titanic and also an audio version of Kaspar by Michael Morpurgo.  Each chapter is about 15 minutes long and there are 10 of them to listen to.  Hope you enjoy them!

If you think your jokes are better than Mr Lee's and Mr Morgan's please email them in to the class email address!!

You can listen to him reading extracts from his books and explore activities on his website:

The NHS are running a competition (online entries only). The task is to say THANK YOU to the NHS.  There are lots of resources to help you learn about the NHS.  It also explains how you can enter.  Send your entry to us too so it can be put on the website for everyone to see.

You can download a free weekly edition of First News.

Click on the link and explore a range of PE based activities!
