World Book Day 2018
It was fantastic seeing the range of characters the children came as and books that were brought in. From traditional tales such as the Gingerbread man to more modern characters like Harry Potter, the excitement and enthusiasm for stories and their protagonists was palpable!
The day started with time to share who we'd come as, then focused on our chosen traditional tale - the classic Three Billy Goats Gruff. Learning activities through the morning and afternoon linked to this tale; from writing opportunities and storymapping to creating stick puppets and collages, to engineering projects including building bridges to reenact tales and building a stick raft for the goats to cross the river on (rather than come head to head with the nasty troll)!
In the afternoon we had time to meet with our paired reading class and share the books that we had brought in with those of the other class and vice versa. The children loved this!
Thank you for all your efforts with costumes - everyone looked absolutely grand!
